The long, hot summer this year hasn’t stopped the James Madison Inn and Conference Center from starting a new project.  Have you ever noticed the historic building next to the Conference Center?  It’s called The Variety Works and it is a very special structure originally built in the late 1870s.  An article from 1895 says that the Variety Works manufactured all kinds of furniture and dealt extensively in building materials, lumber, windows, and scroll work.   Madison Markets now sits on the original site and The Variety Works is the only remaining building from a thriving business of the past.  We’re getting it ready for December events and weddings.  The Variety Works is really going to be a unique venue for the Madison area!
